My Favourite Halloween Films | 2017

Let’s start this out by pointing out that I do not watch scary films, I once watched Scary Movie (the spoof film) with my brothers and I couldn’t sleep, I ended up staying up all night watching Disney princess films to calm me down. That being said, I love getting in the mood for every season so I have created a list of my five favourite films to watch as we draw closer to October 31st.

1. Halloweentown

This absolute Disney channel classic has been one of my favourites forever and even though I watch it now and question how I ever loved it so much, I know that I’ll still watch it every year. It’s got a very basic and predictable storyline but it does exactly what you expect from a Disney channel movie with a few chilled spooks in there too.

2. The Addams Family

I always used to watch this with my family as a kid but I haven’t watched it in a while. It’s definitely on my list to rewatch this year and I’m also considering getting tickets to go and see it in the theatre because I have great memories of this film. Let’s just hope it’s not quite as scary as I remember!

3. Twitches

Another Disney channel classic but can I really do any type of film list without being mostly Disney movies! This film always made me want a sister so badly (I actually did end up getting a sister once I was 8 years old but it wasn’t the same as a magical, long lost twin!)

4. Coraline

I had to watch this at school as a part of an English project and I wasn’t expecting it to be so spooky considering it’s a kids film and everything but I enjoyed it and I felt that it was scary enough to add to my list of Halloween films. I also really enjoyed the book that the film was based on which I think, in my opinion, always enhances my enjoyment of a film.

5. Hocus Pocus

The final film on my list is an absolute classic, I dare you to find anyone who wouldn’t consider this one of the best Halloween films of all time. I haven’t watched it yet this year, I think I’m going to save this one for the night itself. Let’s just hope I don’t get interrupted by too many trick or treaters!

  1. I love a good Halloween film! Not one for scary films myself either! But the nightmare before Christmas by Tim burton is a good one and I love Coraline too! Great post!

    1. I’ve never seen the nightmare before Christmas! I’ve always heard good things though, I might have to give it a go! Thank you 🙂
